National sports — ESPN, FS1, TNT, TBS, NFL Network — come with every live TV streaming service and most cable packages. Picking between YouTube TV, Hulu Live, Sling, or cable is mostly about price.
Regional sports — that's where it gets tricky. Your local team is on a regional sports network. Yankees on YES. Lakers on Spectrum SportsNet. Tigers on FanDuel Sports. Each streaming service carries different RSNs. YouTube TV lost FanDuel networks in 2024. Some teams are unwatchable on certain services. This is the single most important thing to verify before switching.
ESPN+ is not the same as ESPN. ESPN+ is a streaming app for $11 a month — UFC, college sports, originals. It does not include Monday Night Football. For the live ESPN cable channel, you need a live TV service.
Cheapest live ESPN — Sling Orange at 45 bucks. Best all-around for sports — YouTube TV at 73. Most RSNs — DirecTV Stream.
